One of our own creations: the "Make it Pretty" ring. At the center of this Art Deco style ring is a 2.72 ct Old European cut diamond (L color, VS2 clarity), held in place with four split prongs, atop an elaborate (but somehow simple) platinum mounting.
Each of the shoulders has, in descending order, a baguette cut diamond, two round diamonds, another baguette cut diamond, and another round -- alternately bead and bezel set. The shoulder, as well as each of the bezels, is expertly hand mil-grained. The profile of the ring is elegantly finished with simple scrolls.
The European Cut is an old world cut that followed the Mine Cut and came just before the Modern Brilliant. Diamond grading standards have evolved significantly over time. Originally, when this stone was cut, clarity was far more important than color, and there weren't yet reliable sources for "white" diamonds. This stone's faint blue fluorescence causes it to face-up significantly whiter than its grade.
